Pre-Conference Activities:
Pre-Conference Writing Retreat ($25.00 registration; Thursday 8:00 am - 3:00 pm): This pre-conference writing retreat provides the opportunity to see some of the beautiful landscape in the Black Hills and grab some time for your own writing and reflection. Early on the morning of Thursday, October 22 nd , we will depart from the hotel by passenger van and travel to a couple of scenic spots in the Black Hills. At each destination, participants will be able to hike/meander/chill out in the beautiful Black Hills and settle in for some writing time. We anticipate visiting two different locations, and lunch will be provided. We will return to the hotel in time for folks to participate in the other pre-conference workshop, “From the Writing Center to the Job Market.” Participants in the pre-conference writing retreat should keep in mind the following: (1) It can be chilly in the Black Hills in late October. Bring appropriate clothing. (2) The MWCA's agreement with the conference hotel includes “buffer days” at the regular conference rate. When making your reservation, you will probably want to include a Wednesday-night hotel stay into your plans.
